End O season Doo
The End of Season Doo was held in the Sands Hotel on Saturday 3rd of October 2009. The night kicked off with various awards being presented to the following - Jamie Drever (2), Micheal Vendy, Ryan Tulloch and Caleb Fraser
Michael Vendy scooped the Managers Player of the year, which undoubtedly was a tough choice as four or five players were in with a good shout for this one. Jamie Drever Caleb Fraser, Bryce Sutherland and Liam McAthur were all good candidates, however it was decided that for his consistent performances during the year and playing where ever he was asked to, without complaint, Michael was the deserved winner.
Jamie Drever picked up the Players Player of the year winning by a good margin over his nearest rivals, Caleb Fraser and Bryce Sutherland. Any one of the three would have been worthy winners of this award which saw the players nominate after every game played this season.
Caleb Fraser won the Top Goal Scorer award with a good contribution of 19 goals for the season well ahead of Jamie Drever and Steven Bruce, his nearest rivals.
Ryan Tulloch scooped the Most Improved Payer of the year although it was a close call between him and Steven Bruce. Steven's football improved throughout the season as he was give more opportunities to play and was able to scorea few goals along with it. Ryan had a very good season playing right back and right wing and, after scoring a few own goals and conceding a penalty, he managed to play some very good games at the back end of the year with some good goals thrown in.
Jamie Drever picked up his second award of the night with the Spectators Player of the year.
After the awards presentation, a good meal and, a few drinks was had by all.
I would like to thank the Sands Hotel for the good food and the use of the Sands for the night, I would also like to wish the Burray football club all the best for the forthcoming season.
Magnus Woolham, Burray FC Chairman, announced during his speech that due to work commitments, he would be stepping down as chairman this coming AGM. Gary Drever and Wilfie Tulloch are handing over the manager's reins to Alan Scott and Neil Mowat for the next season - I would like to wish them well for the season ahead.
